Long spikes of deep, purple-blue flowers. Late June – Aug. A tall clump forming perennial with a strongly vertical presence and green lance-shaped foliage. 4 – 5′ tall. Full sun, moist soil. Attracts pollinators. Deer resistant. Combines well with aster, chelone, eupatorium, helianthus, hibiscus. Native to Sakhalin Island, Russia. Zone 4.
