Deep purple flowers. August – September. Robust clumping perennial. 4 – 7 ‘ tall. Full sun – moderate shade. Moist soil tolerant. Adds a strong vertical presence to the garden. Showy seed heads add tremendous winter interest. Attracts hummingbirds & butterflies. Northeastern U.S. native. Our plants are Long Island native. Zone 3.
