Butter yellow flowers. April – May. 12 – 24″ tall. Forms big leafy clumps of blue-green leaves that emerge early in the spring. Light to moderate shade. Organically rich, moist soil best. Goes summer dormant – plant with ferns, Solomon’s seal, Begonia grandis to hide the bare spots. Self-sows. Eastern U.S. native. Zone 4.
