Spigelia marilandica

Red tubular flowers with a yellow throat. May – June. 12 – 24″ tall. Light to moderate shade. Moist soil tolerant. Clump forming habit. Slow growing. Remove spent flowering stems to prolong bloom time.  Attracts hummingbirds. A choice woodlander native to the mid-Atlantic and Southeastern U.S. Zone 5.
