Single pink flowers 2 – 3″ across. June. Bright red rose hips 1/2″ in diameter persist through winter – edible & nutritious. Handsome glossy dark green leaves. 3 – 5′ tall. Full sun. Moist soil & salt tolerant. Excellent fall foliage in shades of red to yellow. Red canes attractive in winter. Northeastern U.S. native. Ours are Long Island native. Zone 3.
