Blue-violet (occasionally yellow or white) flowers emerge early spring. Mar – April. Ornamental, plume-like seedheads. Light green basal foliage is deeply divided, silky and fern-like. 8 – 12″ tall. Full sun – light shade. Requires well-drained soil. Drought tolerant. Midwest U.S. native. Zone 3.
