A.K.A Morella pensylvanica. Tough, low maintenance shrub. Glossy green, aromatic leaves. Waxy berries fall – winter used in colonial days for making candles. 6 – 9 ‘ tall. Full sun – light shade. Exceptionally drought tolerant. Moist soil tolerant. Salt tolerant. Deer resistant. Nitrogen fixer: does not require additional fertilizer. Borders, foundation plantings, massing, seashore. Coastal native of northeastern U.S. Ours are Long Island provenance. Zone 2.
