Purple flowers. July-Aug. Foliage has a minty fragrance. 2-3′ tall. Full sun – light shade. Moist soil tolerant – performs best when soil is kept evenly moist. Deer resistant. Attracts hummingbirds and butterflies. Seed heads are excellent for dried flower arranging and attract seed-eating birds. Garden borders. NE U.S. native. Zone 4.
