Forms beautiful vase-shaped clumps of feathery fronds. Extra large fronds up to 6′ long! Brown fertile fronds remain erect during winter. Light to moderate shade; tolerates full sun if soil is kept wet. Grows best in organically rich, moist soil. Spreads rapidly. Deer resistant. Northeastern U.S. native. Zone 2.
