Compact, clump-forming habit. 3″ long, black, horizontal flower heads. Reminiscent of caterpillars. July – August. 18 – 24″ tall. Profuse blooming. Full sun; organically rich, moist soil. Deer resistant. Useful in mixed borders and in masses. Zone 6.
