Glossy, emerald green, sawtooth edged leaves to 24″ long. Greenish-white, spiny flower heads resembling thistle on strong stems 4 – 5′ tall. July – September. Seed heads mature to a dark chocolate-brown lasting into winter. Full sun. Prefers dryish soils. Attracts native pollinators. Deer resistant. Zone 6.
