Broad, arching fronds. 3 – 4′ tall. Light to moderate shade. Grows best in organically rich, moist soil. An impressive large statured garden fern. Clump forming. Easy to grow. Deer resistant. Combines well with asarum, epimedium, carex, tricyrtis, hostas, spring flowering bulbs. NE U.S. native. Zone 3.
