Showy orange-red bracts hide true, inconspicuous greenish-yellow flowers. May – July. 12 – 18″ tall. Full sun. Attracts hummingbirds. Annual or biennial. Hemi-parasitic: plant along with schizachyrium, penstemon or sisyrinchium. Will re-seed in good conditions. Northeastern U.S. native.
