Perennial edible plant. Harvest shoots (spears) as they emerge in spring. After 4 to 6 weeks of harvest, let stalks mature. 4 – 5′ tall. Ferny. Female plants bear red berries. Mature plants are deer resistant, young shoots are not. Heavy soils tolerant. Produces large, crunchy stalks that can be eaten raw. Named when the grower was gifted a coffee can full of seeds! Zone 3.
