Arctostaphylos uva-ursi

Lustrous, dark, evergreen leaves forms broad carpet over time. 4 – 6″ tall. Small whitish-pink flowers May. Bright red berries form late summer and persist. Full sun, well-drained soil. Highly drought tolerant. Salt tolerant. Deer resistant. Moderate to large-scale groundcover, cascader over walls. NE U.S. native. Zone 3.
