Trellised twining herbaceous vine to 10′. Wisteria-like brown-purple flowers in dense clusters. Sweetly scented. Edible tubers raw or cooked. An abundance of large, early ripening, 1-2″ long tubers. Attracts butterflies. Occurs throughout eastern North America. Zone 4.
