The internship will be hands-on and focus on skills relating to growing plants. Interns will be exposed to all areas of the nursery’s operation from propagation to finished products. By practicing these skills daily, an intern can expect, by the end of the internship, to possess the skills to commercially produce container plants. While our interns are expected to be productive, we are also committed to educating our interns so that they will also possess the knowledge that goes along with the growing skills. There will be many opportunities to speak with managers and experienced staff about not only how but why we do what we do.
Interns are assigned a section of the nursery in which they will be responsible for the maintenance and order pulling of the section’s crops. This will be a daily responsibility for the duration of the internship. Interns will also be assigned to other departments of the nursery including propagation, potting, shipping, inventory and pest management. Rotated assignments will be based on seasonal relevancy and needs of the nursery. Additional special projects may be included.
