Evergreen, succulent pads sprawl along the ground 4 – 8″ tall. Brilliant yellow flowers June – July followed by tasty edible fruit. Full sun, well-drained soil. Salt tolerant. Use care in handling – barbed bristles will stick into your skin. Our plants are Long Island native. Inhabits sandy fields and dunes. Groundcover, erosion control. Zone 5.
