Old fashioned favorites! Nearly black, fully double pompoms like mini dahlias. 12″ tall foliage. 24 – 30″ tall in flower. May – June. Full sun – light shade, well-drained soil. Cut back hard for a summer rejuvenation of foliage if necessary. Freely-self-sows. Hummingbird & butterfly magnets. Companions include: ferns, spring bulbs, aconitum, tricyrtis, and sisyrinchium. Zone 3.
