Forms fine textured clumps 2′ tall.  Silver inflorescences in August remain effective through winter.  Fall & winter color tan to copper-orange.  Full sun, well-drained soil.  Drought tolerant.  Salt tolerant.  Fluffy seed heads a winter bird food source. Host to the dusted skipper butterfly.  Native of meadows, open woods of the Northeastern U.S. We are proudly offering Long Island provenance plants.  2022 PPA Perennial Plant of the Year. Zone 3.
