Showy violet flowers begin to open ahead of emerging leaves. April – May. Silky fern-like basal foliage. 8 – 10″ tall. Large ornamental plume-like seedheads. Full sun – part shade. Well-drained soil. Drought tolerant in cooler climates. Deer resistant. Summer dormant. Zone 2.
