Carex nigra ‘Variegata’

Blue-green foliage with thin gold stripes. Dense, spreading growth habit. 9 – 12″ tall. Forms a thick turf. Black flowers June. Part sun – shade, moist soil. Cut back once at the onset of spring. Northeastern U.S. native. Knits together well forming a weed smothering groundcover. Deer resistant. Zone 4.
